Grape Facts

Grapes are one of my very favorite fruits and that’s a fact.  They are red, green, and an almost black color.  You’ll find they are seedless or seeded and have their own spectacular flavors.  They are wonderful warm, cold or frozen as a delicious treat.  I buy both the seeded and unseeded varieties.  When I buy the seed grapes I always eat some of the seeds if they are not to big and woody.  The seeds have great properties for our health because of their antioxidants.

Grapes are crushed and made into juice and crushed or stomped and made into wine.  There is even a grape diet.

The leaves are used for cooking and medicinally.  The seeds are pressed to make grape oil, the compounds in the seeds are considered a very potent antioxidant, and the seeds make a very powerful extract used in naturopathic medicine.

The grape vines are used for making rustic baskets, wreaths, swags and more for decoration.  The grape motif is found in kitchen hand towels, wallpapers, wallpaper borders, paper towel roller decorations, wine baskets, wine racks, rugs and more.  And the colors are called after the grapes; purple grape or green grape.

Their are dessert wines, table wines, sparkling wines, wine coolers, and even wine gel shots.  The prices and qualities vary by vintner and region for wines.

Grapes are made into jams, jellies, pies, and even ice cream.  They are terrific in meat salads, fruit and vegetable salads.  I’ve eaten grapes in chicken salad and tuna salads and found it tasted great.  Grape jellies or jams are used in BBQ sauces, on meat balls and other meat dishes, too.  Grapes with cheese is an age old favorite, try some grapes with warm brie cheese sometime, wonderful.

This very versatile and flavor filled fruit has more uses than I can state in one sitting.  I hope you’ll add your favorite recipe or use to this site to share with others.
