Grape Buttons

How would you use a grape colored button?

Grape buttons are usually thought of as a purple color. The grapes in nature can be any color from white, pale green, medium green, dark purple, purple/black and even a blue purple with more variations of variegated colors in between.

They are used in the standard manner of buttons for fastening your clothing, which is the most common use. Many people use them to decorate pillows, towels, as jewelry for earrings, bracelets and necklaces, and to make pictures or as you would use mosaic tiles to cover almost any surface of your choosing.

Many old quilts had buttons as decorations. They weren’t fun to lay on top of, but were quite wonderful to lie under.

Many crafters use buttons for all kinds of projects. I use them on towel tops. I take a kitchen towel cut it in half, baste the raw edge and pull it to the size I want, then use a crochet hook to begin a looping row across the raw edge, and then I single crochet into the loops all the way across and back about 3-4 times and then start reducing the stitches until I get the desired length to fold over and attach a button to press through a loop to hang it on the cabinet handle pull below my sink.

This little project makes it so easy to dry your hands since your not always reaching for a towel it is right there at the sink where I needed one.

You can also get kits to use to cover buttons with the fabric of your choice when making clothing or decorating items for your home.

These kits are fairly easy to use and will give you many more options to decorate with the fabric in colors you love.
